# 2. Denial

Denial phase needs a different approach to engagement. But don't forget that this is a [normal and pervasive response](https://theconversation.com/humans-are-hardwired-to-dismiss-facts-that-dont-fit-their-worldview-127168) to personal challenge.

1. Scientist life stories - motivation, fear of being wrong (if we target the wrong causes, we won't fix the issue and bad things will happen), wanting to solve climate change before it's too late
2. Look at other areas of uncertainty and ways of coping
   1. Economics
   2. Insurance
   3. Medicine
